Week 2 Science with Mrs Sharma at Technology Term 2 2021!.

Today was my second day of being in Mrs Sharma's Science Class, If you are regularly on my blog you know from my last post that I am in Mrs Sharma's Science Class for technology. Today I was looking forward to what science learning My Tech Class buddies and I were going to learn today!. But unfortunately Mrs Sharma was on a trip so we had a reliever today. Her name was Mrs Smallwood, We didn't know who she was and we had doubts if she really knew anything about science!, but then she introduced herself and she said that she is a retired science teacher, but has a lot of experience with science and she herself used to be the science teacher at Tamaki College ( tamaki college is where we have technology), & that is when we knew we were in good hands for this lesson. After all of that then came the learning. . . . . . . . .

Firstly, Mrs Smallwood told us to create a doc and name it: Topic 2: Science Exploration, I wondered what Science Exploration meant, then we were told to create a table in our doc name the table: Basic Science Equipment. Mrs Smallwood told us that she will show us some basic science equipment and she would tell us the name of those equipment and the what it is used for then we write it down in the table. Before I show you the table, I will write down the Basic Science Equipment and the use of it down below. ( there is alot so get your reading glasses) lol.

Burette: Accurate Water Measuring. Pour Water from the top open the burette with the knob at the bottom, and can control how much water can go through the burette.

Bunsen Burner: used for burning purposes -

Monocular Microscope: to see microscopic things or to magnify.

Petri Dish - What you use to grow bacteria and you can use it to hold chemicals.

Squirt Water Bottle: Used to wash the sides of a beaker or to transfer liquid.

Thermometer: Used to measure the heat in the lab since it has been replaced, or to measure temperature.

Ammeter: Used to measure any meter, Used to measure the Electric Current.

Test Tube Holder.: Used to carry hard test tubes or objects - have to be very careful using it.

Spring Balance: Used to measure the force of weight on an object.

Test Tube: To hold or to contain chemicals, gasses & liquid.

Litmus Paper: Used to be an Acid Base Indicator

Spatula: Used to scoop chemicals, Two sides.

Volumetric Flask: Used to hold and store chemicals.

Magnifying Glass: Used to make an object look enlarged.

Pipette: Used to be a Medicine Dropper.

Brush: Used to clean the lab beakers.

Crucible + Lid: Used for strong heating, also to remove the water from the chemicals.

Beaker: Used to hold chemicals in other words it is mainly a container for science.

Funnel: Used to guide liquids also known as filter funnel, put filter paper inside to clean and make something clear. Also used to be a detergent pump to not spill the detergent.

Measuring Cylinder: Used to measure any liquid.

Now here is the table!.

Task 2: Science Experiment.

Finally we got the chance to do a science experiment! Last week was awesome but I am feeling this week’s experiment will be better!. First step was to go and collect a pipette, test tube and beaker from Mrs Smallwood and place it one your table. We then were instructed to go with the test tube to a tap nearby and fill it up until it gets to 50 milliliters. If we filled it up too high we were to take the pipette and squirt the water out to the sink. I felt like a scientist. Lol.

We were then told that we had to take the water in the test tube and pour it into the beaker and if the water in the beaker had got up to 50 milliliters, you are correct and you are good at measuring, that was the end of our experiment. I felt really good that I got the chance to do this experiment! I can’t wait to see next week's experiment.

That is the end of my second lesson!
